Design Project 2: New York Times
How might we design for journalism to matter in the everyday life of Gen Z?
PARTNER

The New York Times is the partner for DP2. This project explores how journalism can feel more relevant, accessible, and meaningful for Gen Z users in their everyday routines.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
DP2 shifts from researching users to designing directly with users. Instead of only identifying needs and insights, this project focuses on co-creation, low-fidelity prototyping, testing, and iteration.
Our team is looking at how Gen Z engages with journalism, news, social media, and conversation. The goal is not just to make people read more articles, but to understand what would make journalism feel useful, trustworthy, and worth engaging with in real life.
This project arc spans Weeks 6–9 of the quarter, starting with user assumptions and early prototypes, then moving into testing, refinement, and storytelling.
